Intellectual Property Manager

NPL's IntellectualProperty underpins much of NPL's work and supports the real-worldimpact created through adoption of NPL technologies. We have aproud record of commercialisation - our IP has supported the growthof UK companies as well as the commercialisation of innovative NPLsolutions through routes such as spin-outs, licensing and NPL'sproducts and services.

Recent examples include the development and launch ofDAART, a digital metrology platform for radiotherapyaudits, a new miniature atomic clock, developed by NPL and nowbeing commercialised with a commercial party, and ThermologyHealth, a spinout organisation from NPL, who have developedthe world's most accurate thermal imaging platform that enablesearly diagnostics based on ultra-accurate temperature readings andAI analytics.

This is an exciting opportunity for an IP specialist toexpand their experience and knowledge, working as part a team of IPand technology transfer specialists in the Partnerships Departmentwith a strong focus on collaborating with our science and legalteams, external patent attorneys and external partners on theidentification, protection and exploitation ofIP.

Key Responsibilitiesinclude:

Reviewing invention disclosures andadvising on best protection strategies
• Conducting due diligence and unencumberingIP so it can be commercialised
Working alongside Product Managers toensure the IP strategy aligns with and strengthens the overallbusiness plan for each innovation Structuring and negotiating IP deals andIP terms in third party agreements Advising on IP risks andmitigations
• Managing a broad and technically diverse IP portfolio(activities include leading on patent and trademark prosecution andmanaging associated budgets, and post-licensingmanagement)
• Raising IP awareness in the organisation by deliveringtraining and being the first point of contact for any IPqueries
