Job Description

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Senior Credit Risk Analyst for an initial 12-month contract which will be largely home based/remote with occasional travel to any of the client's UK offices (rare Edinburgh travel may be required).

Purpose of the Role:

Our client will be acquiring another large retail bank. They are currently undergoing the process of migrating their credit portfolio. This role is to fill the capacity in the team that will be taken up by the migration. You will both support on the migration itself as well as filling gaps in the team for BAU work. Our client need to ensure that they can run their own strategies and policies on the new acquired credit portfolio from day 1 of the acquisition completing. This is expected to be a large and complex body of work that will run for the next 16 months.

As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst you will be responsible for:

  • You will be managing an unsecured credit portfolio within a retail bank through automated credit risk strategies, particularly with regards to credit cards.
  • Drive the development of personal and private lending portfolios, assessing and recommending opportunities where appropriate.
  • Support the management of portfolio credit risks including bad debt provisions, Risk Weighted Assets and costs, delivering impairments and provision cover within limits.
  • Ensure that the personal and private credit risk portfolios continue to perform within risk limit frameworks.
    Work with teams across the bank to design, sign off, implement, test and monitor credit policies.
  • Provide insights to allow conclusions to be drawn.
  • Fully conversant with the personal banking marketplace and associated legal/regulatory requirements, and ensure that credit initiatives, processes, and systems meet requirements.
  • Active and effective change management through successful design, development and delivery of key strategic initiatives.
  • Stakeholder management responsibilities across a diverse Matrix structure.
  • Liaise and influence the franchise regarding ongoing credit customer management/projects.
  • Provide insight and challenge where appropriate, driving the automation agenda.
  • Challenge accepted practice and drive change to ensure continuous improvement and capability enhancements particularly from an unsecured products perspective.
  • Day to day operational supervision of analysts in the team.

What we require from the candidate:

  • A high level of prior credit risk experience, especially in unsecured credit portfolios.
  • Ability to code in SQL and SAS.
  • Prior experience of managing portfolios of automated credit risk strategies.
  • Understanding of limit management strategies (desirable).
  • Credit cards experience (desirable).
  • Retail banking experience (desirable).
