Job Description

Job Title: PA to CEO and Secretary to the Board
Ref: PASECB435
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part time 22.5 hours per week. Work pattern to be agreed upon appointment with flexibility required to accommodate Board and Sub-Committee meetings.
Salary: £29,900 pro-rata, per annum, actual salary £18,182 per annum.
Location: The role is offered on a hybrid basis with attendance at the Penny Brohn UK National Centre 1-2 days per week.

Penny Brohn UK is the cancer health and wellbeing charity. We help people feel better in mind, body and spirit by offering support through our team of cancer support experts (which includes doctors, nutritionists, counsellors and exercise therapists)

Penny Brohn UK helps people with cancer to feel more physically and emotionally able to manage the impacts of their diagnosis and treatment, be more in control of their choices and have the best quality of life possible. By making our services freely available, our aim is for all people with cancer to be able to access the high-quality support they need.

The role

Working to support the CEO and Board of Trustees, this is a key role within the charity and we are looking for someone who is highly organised and enjoys the challenges of providing effective support, administration and governance at a senior level.

The individual we are looking for will:

  • Have previous office management experience at Board level or within a charitable environment. They will be used to providing administration for meetings including the preparation and distribution of reports, agendas and papers in a timely manner along with the production of minutes.
  • Be able to demonstrate good communication, in particular, concise and creative written communication as well as strong verbal skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative and without supervision. They will be used to managing and prioritising their own workload as well as meeting demanding timescales and conflicting priorities.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the charity, the CEO and the Board of Trustees along with offering a wholehearted commitment to the vision and values of Penny Brohn UK.

This role is offered at 22.5 hours per week with a minimum of 1 day per week working in the Penny Brohn UK National Centre in Pill on the outskirts of Bristol. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility will be required in regard to the agreed work pattern in order to attend the Board and sub-committee meetings.

Board meetings - are held in person once per quarter and take place between 9am - 4pm on a Friday at the charity s National Centre in Pill.

Sub-committee meetings are held via Teams and can vary between 3-5 meetings per month and take place across the week.

All meetings are planned well in advance and Board and Sub-Committee meetings are not held during school holidays.
