Sydenham High School is looking for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and dynamic teacher to lead our vibrant Design and Technology department.
As Head of Design and Technology, you will ensure the smooth running of the department, leading with assurance and clarity on teaching, learning and innovation within Design and Technology. You will ensure that high standards of teaching and learning are delivered, resources are used efficiently and effectively, and the curriculum is managed and developed in accordance with school policy.
You will be a passionate individual, who is strongly motivated and keen to make themselves an active part of this thriving community. With a strong track record of DT teaching up to and including A Level, you will demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, practical skills and workshop experience, including the ability to teach CAD/CAM. You will also possess strong leadership and decision-making skills, including experience in a management role (e.g. as Deputy Head of Department).
The Design and Technology Department
The department is vibrant and forward-thinking, with passionate, dedicated staff and students. The subject performs strongly at GCSE and A Level and most Product Design (DT) A Level students go on to study a wide variety of design courses at prestigious universities. The DT department is looking forward to the new build which is upgrading and rehousing the department in a modern and exciting environment, from Summer 2026, which will showcase the subject further.
