Are you an experienced professional working with young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities in educational settings? The Special Needs Assessment Service (SNAS) works on behalf of children and young people with severe and complex special educational needs and their parents. As part of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the statutory responsibilities towards children and young people are met. Can you help play a central role in achieving positive outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs in Wandsworth?

About The Role

Working as part of the EHC Annual Reviews Team - Primary Pod, you will contribute to the administration of around 3000 Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans. You will ensure the efficient and timely assessment of children and young people aged 0 to 25 and managing and reviewing their EHC plans going forward.

You will provide comprehensive casework management and be responsible for ensuring annual reviews take place within statutory timescales, reassessments are conducted as necessary, phase transfers between education settings are managed and children and young people are supported to achieve their outcomes.

The caseload will be determined through the education setting so Coordinators will be the link to the schools in their allocation and well as holding a small A-Z allocation for children placed in schools out of borough. For the Primary Pod there an EHC Assistants who support the Coordinators with their work.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A thorough knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the associated SEND Code of Practice.
  • The ability to work in a busy and pressurised environment with competing pressures.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with schools and other education settings, professionals from education, health and social care, and children and families.
  • Effective communication both orally and in writing with a wide range of professionals and parents.
  • A desire to work with young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities.
