Job Description

AAT is the Association of Accounting Technicians, the world's leading professional body for accounting technicians. AAT is undertaking a change to its governance structure that was voted for by 95% of its members at the 2024 Annual General Meeting. The changes were made to reflect the values of AAT and the Charity Governance Code in 2020 that raised the bar in what Good Governance looks like. AAT and its members are welcoming a new Board of Trustees that will be at the apex of AAT. It will be led by a Chair, and joined by 11 Board members all will be a mix of member and independent roles. It will be a skills-based Board and they will ensure the new governing Board has the requisite diverse skillset to guide AAT effectively into the future.

Having commenced the search for the inaugural Chair, AAT is now looking to appoint Trustees to the inaugural Board. As a charity trustee, you will be responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, ensuring it effectively fulfils its mission, maintains financial stability, and operates in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

AAT is looking for individuals with an understanding of charity governance and the role of a trustee. It is also looking for individuals who bring broad experience of good governance in business, the public sector or not-for-profit organisations. A passion for AAT, its missions and values is essential. Candidates can either be AAT members or independent and prior non-executive experience is not essential.
