About Us:
The Design and Content team in the Digital Services Unit (DSU) is seeking a highly skilled and innovative UX/UI Designer to join our digital services team in the public sector. This role focuses on designing human-centred digital solutions that enhance the experience of citizens and stakeholders interacting with services. The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming how public sector services are delivered online, ensuring accessibility, usability, and overall user satisfaction, in alignment with strategic priorities.
Job Overview:
As a UX/UI Designer, you will be at the forefront of transforming digital services to be more user-driven, accessible, and efficient. You will be responsible for designing and enhancing services that meet user needs and align with organisational goals. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will create engaging, accessible, and meaningful experiences across various platforms.
You will work closely with internal UX/UI designers, developers, external content designers, and other stakeholders. Your ability to extract crucial insights from complex requirements will enable you to create clear, simple, easy-to-use, and accessible designs. An iterative approach to design, leveraging analytics and user feedback, will be key to ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:-
Lead the end-to-end design process for digital platforms, including research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI design.

Collaborate with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to create user-driven designs aligned with organisational objectives.

Conduct user research and usability testing to understand needs, pain points, and journeys. Translate findings into actionable insights and iterate designs accordingly.

Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG).

Create and maintain a design system for consistency across platforms.

Present and communicate design solutions to stakeholders, clearly articulating design rationale.

Produce clear and concise visual representations of concepts using tools such as Figma.

Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and design trends to continually enhance user experience.

Support digital transformation efforts in the public sector by implementing innovative design strategies.

Provide training in design and prototyping tools as needed.

Level 6 NFQ in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or a related field (Bachelor's Degree NFQ Level 7/8 preferred).

4+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, ideally with experience in public sector and large-scale web applications.

Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in designing intuitive user experiences and visually compelling interfaces.

Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, and prototyping tools.

Experience with user research methodologies, usability testing, and data-driven design.

Strong understanding of human-centred design principles and methodologies.

In-depth knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design principles.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Experience working in an agile environment.

Knowledge of Front End technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
