About the role

Our client exists to offer children and young people bespoke education, care and support services that maximise their opportunities to "live life to the full". What will you be doing?

They need their Trustees to lead them in offering vulnerable people individually designed education, care and support services. Their Trustees set the strategic direction and lead them in offering vulnerable children and young people bespoke education, care and support services in the context of their Catholic faith and mission.

What are they looking for?

They are looking to recruit Trustees to the Board who are willing to bring passion, expertise and commitment to the role, supporting the strategic growth of the charity.

They are particularly keen to hear from individuals with the following:

  • A practising member of the Catholic faith and committed to upholding the Catholic ethos of the charity
  • Knowledge and experience as a senior leader within an organisation
  • Familiarity with education, health or care sectors
  • High ethical standards

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience of corporate or charity governance and/or trusteeship
  • Commitment to equality, promoting respect and dignity for all
  • Suitability to work with children, young people & vulnerable adults

Time commitment

This is a volunteer role and reasonable travel expenses will be paid. You will need to attend approx. 5 meetings of the Board per year which usually last between half day and a full day. They also ask the Trustees to join one of their Board committees which generally meet between 4 and 6 times per year.

How to apply

Please complete an application form and upload an up to date CV on our website. All offers are conditional and subject to receipt of satisfactory pre-employment checks and references including an enhanced DBS check. Please note we are not on a public transport route.
Applications will be reviewed and interviews scheduled on a rolling basis; therefore, they recommend that you apply sooner rather than later. They reserve the right to close an advert if they receive sufficient applications ahead of the deadline. If you require reasonable adjustments at application or interview stage, please do let them know as soon as possible.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Establishing a diverse and inclusive Board is of great importance to them; they welcome applicants from all backgrounds, reflecting our commitment to fostering a community built on mutual respect, inclusivity and shared purpose and ensuring that their Board and Committees reflect those who they serve. They would be particularly interested in applications from minority ethnic backgrounds and underrepresented groups.

Safeguarding

They are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, vulnerable adults and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service. Some of their positions involve regulated activity relevant to vulnerable children, adults and young people. It is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with that particular group. Their vacancies are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
