Job Description

Kier Construction have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Works Manager to join one of our major schemes in Glasgow. Working on our HMP Glasgow project the Temporary Works Manager will take a key role in overseeing packages from design development to decommissioning throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Location: Glasgow

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

What will you be responsible for?

The Temporary Works Manager will take a key role in ensuring that a broad range of temporary works are delivered safely and in adherence to BS5975. Working with the site project teams and design partners the Temporary works Coordinator will ensure the timely and accurate flow of information between stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient delivery of all packages.

Your day to day will include:

  • Ensure adherence to BS5975 and Kier Group Temporary Works (TW) Management Procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage all Temporary Works activities, ensuring that a detailed design brief is produced and aligns with the site's actual conditions.
  • Offer guidance to permanent works designers regarding temporary conditions and loads.
  • Facilitate independent design checks assessing concept, structural integrity, and compliance where necessary.
  • Assess the competencies of external designers and design checkers.
  • Keep TW documentation updated within the site management systems, ensuring that all relevant parties are briefed on design specifics, risks, and constraints.
  • Oversee alterations in materials or construction methods, maintaining alignment with the approved design.
  • Issue permit to load as required and perform regular inspections

What are we looking for?

This role of Temporary Works Coordinator is great for you if you:

  • Hold a qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering discipline
  • Can demonstrate prior experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator / manager on large scale, high value civil engineering or building projects.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Temporary Works management procedures, demonstrating strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, formwork and falsework.
  • Ideally have experience in design and/or engineering management
  • have a strong commitment to safety, health, environmental standards, and sustainability practices.
