The role
Are you passionate about propulsion systems and mechanical engineering within naval projects? We are seeking a talented Technical Specialist in Propulsion Systems to join Damen Naval. In this role, you will spearhead the development, advice, and engineering activities related to propulsion systems and auxiliary mechanical components on vessels. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding research, design, and project proposals, contributing to further advancements in these critical areas. As part of our esteemed team, you will collaborate closely with specialists, ensuring the verification of system performances during crucial project phases.
Key accountabilities
As Technical Specialist Propulsion Systems, your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead technical aspects of research, proposals, and engineering initiatives, offering creative solutions for complex projects and deliverables.
- Provide support during design reviews and validation tests, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing development and promotion of your expertise, driving innovation within the field.
- Deliver high-quality engineering work within agreed schedules and budgets, maintaining compliance with all relevant requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department, fostering knowledge transfer and development.
Skills & experience
To excel as Technical Specialist Propulsion Systems, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Relevant Bachelor or Master degree, along with at least five years of experience.
- Proficiency in propulsion systems, mechanical components (such as cooling and HVAC), ideally gained within naval project environments.
- Basic understanding of maritime system dynamics and control systems.
- Experience in academic research and collaboration within the naval shipbuilding or related industry is preferred.
- Good command of the Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
- Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
