Job Description:
Title: Technical IT Documentation Writer
Location: Brussels, Belgium
Duration: first contract of 100 days (extension possible)
Work Mode: Onsite

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

  • Draft, update, and maintain IT documentation for internal networks, including system architecture, configurations, security policies, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness of documentation to support IT administrators and security personnel.
  • Maintain consistency in formatting and terminology across all documentation.
  • Document IT systems based on Windows and Linux architectures, ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
  • Provide documentation for both online and standalone systems, some of which may be classified and require adherence to strict security protocols.
  • Ensure documentation follows client's security standards and aligns with best practices for classified IT systems.
  • Support audits and security assessments by providing clear and structured documentation.
  • Apply PM² (Project Management Methodology) and PILAR (risk assessment and security methodology) as a basis for structuring documentation.
  • Use appropriate tools and templates to ensure consistency and compliance with internal policies.
  • Work closely with IT teams, security experts, and project managers to gather technical information.
  • Participate in meetings and reviews to ensure documentation reflects the latest system configurations and security measures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A university degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Technical Communication, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, a combination of professional certifications and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in technical writing for IT systems, networks, or cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated experience in documenting Windows and Linux-based IT systems, including security policies and system architecture.
  • Familiarity with classified or restricted IT environments is a strong asset.
  • Experience with IT security standards, compliance requirements, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of PM² project management methodology and PILAR risk assessment framework is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in a public sector, governmental, or EU institution environment is an advantage.
