In Norfolk's Residential Service, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who has a good understanding of Residential work with children to join us as a Home Manager for Loki House, emergency bed home or Easthills Short Breaks Home.
Loki house provides emergency and time limited, specialist care for young people (male and female) aged between 7-17 years, when either family, foster care, or other community-based placements are not possible or desirable at the time.
Easthills provides short breaks to adolescents supporting children, families and carers to improve relationships at home or be part of a bespoke intervention in partnership with our other services to help prevent children becoming looked after.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to lead a team of staff to provide high quality care for children and young people and to work collaboratively with others to ensure that young people receive the best possible service.
The successful candidate will be a good leader who has excellent interpersonal skills and can demonstrate their ability to lead, motivate staff and drive change. You will make sure that young people are at the centre of everything that happens in the home, will be an excellent problem solver, make sound judgements under pressure and respond effectively in a crisis.
You will need to have a background in residential care and be experienced in working with children. You will be required to hold relevant training in line with the role and you will be expected to undertake the requirements set out in the Ofsted Children's Homes Regulations.
This post is predominantly office hours, but candidates will need to be able to work flexibly when required to help manage the busy logistics of a children's home. You will be responsible for and will participate in the 'out of hours' rota for the home and will need to be able to occasionally work weekends, evenings and bank holidays, where necessary, which may involve sleeping in, depending on the needs of the service.
Duties will include the supervision, support, performance management of the staff team and the budget for the Home. As the Home Manager, you will lead on the ongoing development of the Home using feedback from young people and their families, other agencies, and by monitoring all aspects of the home, as required by the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
You will ensure that legislation is met in all areas which includes your own registration with Ofsted as the Home Manager.
