We are looking for an enthusiastic, strong, and committed leader to join our management group within our Fostering Service to lead one of our fostering teams, with a primary focus in the Fostering Mainstream Support Team and Mockingbird.

What you will be doing

While you will have the usual targets to achieve, you will be doing so with a very supportive leadership team around you that are always accessible from the very top down.

If you can focus on the people behind the social worker title - we know you will achieve the best for our children and families.

• First and foremost, as a supportive manager you will be able to get the best from your team members whilst ensuring they are fully supported and know how valued they are.

• It will be your responsibility to lead your team to provide high quality supervision, support, and training to foster carers and their families to enable them to provide the best possible trauma informed care to our children and young people.

• You will lead and oversee a consistently good service to these carers and the children and young people they look after.

• It will be key for you to maintain a priority in promoting personal and professional development through the several available pathways and programmes offered by our Children's Services to you staff.

What we need from you

• You will have a relevant professional qualification and experience in a relevant setting such as corporate parenting or social care. This must include experience of managing staff and supervision of other professionals.

• Developing and motivating your team to fulfil the changing demands of the service, you will contribute towards the recruitment and retention of foster carers and service development.

• An in depth and comprehensive understanding of children in care, foster carers and their families is essential for this role.

• Given the elements of the role, you will be able to evidence your ability to lead teams to achieve optimum performance in delivering excellent social care services for children.

• You will have evidence of on-going continuous professional development and a thorough knowledge of current legislation and practice relating to children and young people's services.

What you need to know

• Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (child and adult) is obtained for this post.

• You will be required to travel widely within the authority so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel.

• Business Insurance will need to be added to your current car insurance policy.

Interviews are anticipated to take place week commencing 28th April 2025.
