That includes training for our internal and external editors; improving transparency and openness with our policies and systems; and using technology to increasingly recognise signs of breaches of research integrity and publication standards and prevent publication of papers with integrity problems.

Purpose of the role

The Team Lead is responsible for training and development of multiple direct reports, managing the team's workload and ensuring team efficiency, monitoring their performance and providing feedback, as well as delivering personal targets. The successful candidate plays a crucial role in driving the implementation of strategic initiatives to prevent integrity problems. The candidate embraces creativity, innovation and is open to new ideas that drive change. This role reports into the Head of Research Integrity, Prevention.

The responsibilities include:

Team management

Ensuring team resources are effectively deployed to meet the needs of the organisation and individual team members.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supervise a team of (senior) integrity analysts by providing support, training and guidance.
  • Monitor team performance and coach the team as necessary to improve the performance.
  • Engage regularly with your team members via the formal performance review processes that focus both on targets, achievements and personal development
  • Delivering personal targets in line with Prevention team and company goals
  • Report on progress toward objectives and goals
  • Provide improvement ideas to optimize as well as contribute to the wider team's KPI report.
  • Align with other team leads/managers and colleagues in the Prevention team, RIG Resolutions, RIG program manager, Policy and Indexing on initiatives and improve processes if necessary.


Delivering and supporting implementation of the strategy

Work closely with the Head of Research Integrity, Prevention to support the development of a variety of (technology-driven) tools and systems to address research integrity challenges (at scale).

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing daily supervision to team members to meet the assigned objectives.
  • Reporting to line manager on results and challenges, actively propose solutions as well as work closely with the manager towards team and company goals.
  • Understanding internal/external research integrity challenges and suggesting new solutions as well as recommending best practices to improve existing solutions for use 'end-to-end' in the publishing process
  • Be actively involved in and monitoring success rate of stopping problem content at an early stage through various initiatives for various purposes including reporting, fine-tuning tools and processes and potential new solutions.
  • Represent SNRIG at (advisory) committees, expert groups as well internal and external events.


Stakeholder management

Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure the goal of the company to protect our business and reputation from research integrity challenges is met.

Responsibilities include:
  • Establishing a close collaboration with the data analysts and various technology development teams to ensure they understand what problem needs solving and provide guidance and/or input to how this best could be achieved.
  • Engaging with other teams and internal divisions e.g. Publishing teams, Production, Operations, Content Acquisition, Product & Platform group, Research Solutions, adjacent teams in the Publishing Performance and Intelligence team, Marketing, etc to identify and understand their needs to drive continuous prevention activities.
  • Successfully influencing and motivating others to accept and support an idea/proposal/plan to improve prevention activities.


Deputise for the Head of Research Integrity, Prevention, as and when required

Experience
  • Experience within scholarly publishing
  • A good understanding of publication and research ethics concepts
  • Well versed with publishing workflow/systems/processes
  • An understanding of the research environment and a thorough understanding of recent trends/ developments in the field, particularly in the use of (generative) AI
  • A track record of managing large scale projects
  • Experience of stakeholder management


Skills
  • Ability to manage a diverse and inclusive team of highly skilled experts in multiple locations
  • Proven background in data management and analysis
  • Basic understanding of SQL or Python
  • Able to see tasks through to completion, working to (often competing) deadlines
  • Project management skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving in both daily tasks and more complex troubleshooting
  • Analytical skills
  • Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to travel


Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
