Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teaching/behaviour assistant to work in our alternative provision.

The successful applicant will work within the team of the River Bourne Edge.

The role is Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, term time only.

Term time only

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of a curriculum that engages all students e.g. themed approach
  • Plan and support the re-integration of students back into mainstream education, where appropriate
  • Maintain a positive, calm learning environment through a restorative approach
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create individualised education plans
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students in the provision
  • Provide guidance and support to students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals
  • Coordinate with external agencies and organisations to provide additional resources and services for students
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and attendance
  • Assist with the supervision of students and the maintenance of good order within the site throughout the day
  • Adhere to all the relevant policies
  • Ensure all safeguarding procedures are always followed
  • Attend all relevant training

Skills:

  • Be experienced in working with students with challenging needs
  • Have a good understanding of restorative practices or be willing to learn
  • Strong educational background with the ability to educate and engage students effectively
  • Ability to use technology effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritise responsibilities
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Empathy and understanding towards students facing educational or behaviour challenges
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and procedures related to alternative provision programs
  • Experience in safeguarding children in education
