Systems Analyst/Developer

Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have a background in software development and/or analysis, ideally gained within an IT department or from a software vendor. A proven history of delivering projects with a strong ability to take full ownership of both projects and issues is a must.
Reporting directly to the Group Operations Director or the relevant Project Manager, the role will vary based on project size, with the candidate either working independently or as part of a team. Client interaction is a frequent component of this role, and the candidate must be adept at gathering requirements, estimating costs, and delivering completed solutions.
The role will require flexibility, as tasks will shift between analysis, configuration, detailed SQL Scripting, and system/report design. A candidate who can excel in both business and technical aspects will thrive in this environment.
Ideal Experience & Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will be a proactive self-starter with several years of experience and a solid understanding of the insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure insurance systems to meet client specifications.
- Prepare project feasibility reports.
- Collaborate with both external clients and internal teams.
- Develop documentation and MIS reports using tools like Crystal Reports and MS Report Builder.
- Build and use SQL queries to report on and modify databases.
- Translate client requirements into detailed project documentation.
- Identify and assess potential solutions, considering both technical feasibility and business needs.
- Develop logical and innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Prepare proposals for system modifications or replacements and present them to clients.
- Work closely with developers and end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
- Create and manage testing schedules for product or model testing.
- Oversee the implementation of projects.
- Manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Write user manuals and provide training on new systems.
- Stay informed of industry trends and technical developments.
- Take on any additional responsibilities as required.
Knowledge & Skills:
- A strong understanding of the insurance life cycle.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- In-depth knowledge of database applications, design methods, and approaches.
