The role
Are you a detail-oriented engineer with a passion for standardization and efficiency? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment, working on advanced naval projects? Damen Naval is looking for a Standardization Engineer to join our growing team. If you are ready to contribute to cost reduction, risk management, and optimized lead times through smart standardization solutions, we want to hear from you!

As Standardization Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering department standardization team. Your role is to ensure uniformity and efficiency in components and methods, contributing to cost savings, risk mitigation, and shorter project lead times. You will work closely with engineers from various projects, ensuring alignment with standardization goals. Your focus will be on mechanical, structural, and outfitting engineering, collaborating with multiple disciplines to create and maintain yard and project standards.

Key accountabilities
As Standardization Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Create and maintain 2D drawings of standardized components, ensuring consistency and quality.
• Ensure compliance with technical requirements, manufacturability, weight considerations, ergonomics, and safety regulations.
• Manage and update standardization data within the PDM system.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams across Damen Naval and other Damen locations.
• Conduct technical discussions with suppliers and classification societies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Skills & experience
For the role of Standardization Engineer, Damen Naval is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• MBO-4 (secondary vocational education) in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
• At least three years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong team player with an eye for accuracy and efficiency.
• Experience with CAD systems, preferably MicroStation.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
