£49,939 - £60,515 per annum

Fixed Term (Maternity Cover, 12 months)

Full Time (36 hours)

Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a difference to the lives of children and young people with autism?

Our Autism Advisory Service is a multi-professional service providing advice, support and intervention to children and young people with autism, their families and education settings.Working across two teams including the Multi-disciplinary Assessment (MDA) team, you will gain valuable experience and further develop your career. You will be part of a professional team of experienced teachers, psychologists and therapists.

About the Role

You will work collaboratively within a multi-agency Advisory team under the direction of the Head of Service to provide support to education settings to best meet the needs of children and young people with Autism (ASC) and Social Communication Disorder (SCD). Your role will be crucial in the delivery ofhigh-quality training to professionals and families.Deliveringprogrammes of intervention andgroup work / support for children at home and in school / Early Years setting, you will oversee and provide advice and support to multi therapy assistants and a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • UK qualified status and registered with the HCPC.
  • Extensive knowledge of Autism Spectrum and how these may affect communication development and function.
  • In depth knowledge of appropriate assessment and therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group e.g. PECS etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles of effective working with families and application to practice.
  • Significant experience in assessment and intervention of children with an Autism.
  • Extensive experience of operational caseload management for children with an ASC.
