Job Description
At the Competence Centre Automotive and Industrial Electronics GmbH (KAI) we offer employment in an industrial research environment, guided and supported by experienced researchers in close cooperation with universities and research institutions. Do you enjoy working in the laboratory and are you interested in playing an active role in materials research for semiconductor technology applications? At KAI you will have the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art characterisation methods from experts and support us in carrying out experiments in the laboratory.


Job Description

In your new role you will:
  • Do implementation and further development of sample preparation of test structures and components (sawing, grinding, polishing, ion polishing)
  • Take photographs with the light and scanning electron microscope
  • Perform fatigue tests on test chips
  • Perform material characterisation methods on wafers and wafer fragments
  • Be responsible for the sample preparation tools
  • Detailed document and prepare data




Your Profile

You are best equipped for this task if you have:
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field (materials science, physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering)
  • Experience in laboratory work (optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, etc.) and related documentation of results) and the associated documentation of results
  • Willingness to work independently and reliable, have a hands-on approach and communicate effectively with colleagues
  • An understanding of semiconductor materials and their properties (crystal structures, characterisation methods, mechanical stresses)
  • Good communication skills in German and English
This position is limited until 31.12.2026 and subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry, at least employment group E (). The monthly salary is paid 14 times p.a. A higher payment is negotiable depending on your expertise and skills. Furthermore, Infineon offers additional employee benefits.
