Job Title: Special Needs Teacher
Location: Special School, Newham
Salary: Paid to Scale
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent (within 2 terms)
Start Date: September 2025

Are you an experienced Special Needs Teacher looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? Do you have the passion and dedication to support children and young people with varied needs? I am seeking x2 compassionate and skilled Special Needs Teachers to join a well-established special school that caters to students from primary to secondary levels.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, individualised teaching to students with a range of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, behavioural challenges, and physical and mental health needs. You will work within a nurturing and supportive environment, tailoring lessons to meet the diverse requirements of each student while fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a larger trust, providing excellent progression pathways and professional development. The position begins on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent within two terms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEND.

  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual learning styles and abilities.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to student development.

  • Implement and review EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) to ensure effective support for each student.

  • Manage challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement strategies.

  • Engage with parents and carers to support student progress and wellbeing.

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development within the trust.

  • Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards achieving QTS.

  • Experience working within a special school or special educational provision.

  • Strong understanding of SEND, including autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, and behavioural challenges.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
