Senior Infrastructure Engineer

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Jamf) (Inside IR35) for a 12 Month contract based Hybrid in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

Core Purpose
. Design, build, and maintain key operational infrastructure services within the directorate.
. Focus on End-User Compute (currently a MacBook estate), User management, and Office Productivity tooling in an Engineering environment.

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with Jamf expertise to take ownership of our on-premise, self-hosted Jamf service managing over 600 MacBooks. This is a hands-on technical role requiring Linux infrastructure administration, Bash/Python Scripting, and mentoring skills.

You will work within an established environment, ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our End-User Compute services.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Jamf) your main responsibilities will be to:
. Own and maintain the Jamf infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
. Manage and support on-premise Jamf services, supporting the MacBook estate.
. Provide technical mentoring and support to junior engineers.
. Handle hardware/software management and procurement, including renewals and support contracts.
. Monitor supplier performance and escalate issues as required.
. Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based infrastructure.
. Manage hardware and recycling in the on-premise datacentre throughout its decommissioning.
. Document infrastructure processes and best practices.

Essential:
. SC/CTC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.
. Proven experience managing Jamf (on-premise/self-hosted).
. Experience managing a MacBook estate (including Apple MDM, ESET Anti-virus, and Jamf).
. Scripting skills in Bash and Python.
. Linux infrastructure administration experience.
. Experience managing Office Productivity Tooling (Atlassian Jira/Confluence, Slack, Mattermost).
. User and group management (Active Directory, ADFS, Entra).
. Cloud networking experience.
. Experience in operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Linux and MacOS.
. Managing and maintaining cloud infrastructure services.
. Software licensing and contract management.

Desirable:
. Awareness of writing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
. Awareness of implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or equivalent.
