Senior Highway Design Engineer

An excitingopportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Engineer to join ourTransportation team in Ipswich. In this role, you will take thelead in managing a team to carry out investigations, feasibilitystudies, and both preliminary and detailed designs for a range ofhighway improvement and maintenance schemes for local authorities.The position involves collaboration with internal and externalcommissioners, as well as working closely with operations teams andsupply chain partners through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) tosuccessfully deliver highway projects.

Location: Ipswich - someremote working available, with travel to the officerequired

Contract:Permanent Fulltime with some flexibility on hours

Salary: £42,500 - £47,500 perannum + private healthcare + benefits

Responsibilities

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll manage the localhighway authority maintenance improvement schemes from drainage /footway improvements, new road signs, traffic regulation orderschemes through to roundabout designs, junction improvements andpublic realm improvements, integrated with resolution ofpre-existing maintenance needs. You'll also the maintenanceschemes from any aspect of hard landscaping and will include themanagement and scheduling of road closure requests for reactive,minor planned and general maintenance works

Yourday to day will include:

• Ensure aco-ordinated approach between Kier, and any external commissionersin the preparation of designs, investigation, works instigation forsubsequent adherence to agreed programme delivery dates
• Prepare technical designs, drawings, documentsspecifications and other works information for infrastructureoperations, assisting with the development of associated projectmanagement plans
• Undertake theresponsibilities of 'Principal Designer' or 'Designer' bygenerating designer risk assessments and preparing pre-constructioninformation in accordance with the CDM Regulations 2015 forconstruction works, as well as the production of the health andsafety files
• Control the scheme designprogramme and overall scheme budget for design and construction ofsmaller schemes

This role of SeniorDesign Engineer is great if you have:

• Proven experience of successfully delivering a range ofcomplex projects in local highways engineering, highwaysdesign or similar technical disciplines
• Goodtechnical knowledge and awareness of highways design andmaintenance techniques, including the appropriate application ofthe Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
• Understanding of environmental legislation and recyclingand how it affects maintenance and improvement schemes
