We are working with a dedicated special needs school that provides a supportive and nurturing environment for students aged 10 to 17 diagnosed with autism, all of which have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school is committed to providing bespoke support, fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere where every student can thrive.
Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Maths Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and a genuine interest in working with students with special educational needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs of our students. You will be expected to teach across most age groups and to help cover any absences as and when needed.
Key Responsibilities:Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality maths lessons tailored to the needs of students with autism. Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other staff members. Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and other stakeholders. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement. Work closely with teaching assistants and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for students. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and mathematics teaching.
Qualifications and Experience:Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent. Experience teaching mathematics is essential, preferably in a special needs setting. Knowledge and understanding of autism and strategies to support students on the autism spectrum. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with students with special educational needs.
