About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Humanities Teacher to work within an Alternate Provision / Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting. In this role, you will deliver engaging and tailored Humanities lessons (e.g., History, Geography, RE) to students aged 11-18 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons that meet the needs of students with a range of abilities and behavioral challenges.
  • Supporting students in developing academic skills and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Managing behavior effectively, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including support staff, therapists, and external agencies.
  • Monitoring student progress, maintaining records, and providing constructive feedback.

About You:


To succeed in this role, you should have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, behavioral challenges, or within alternative provisions/PRUs.
  • A solid understanding of Humanities subjects and the ability to adapt your teaching style to engage disaffected learners.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a calm, empathetic approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
