We are looking for a Retail Assistant to join our team.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

The retail function of the commercial team look after the shop space and specialise in servicing our visitor's requirements for an excellent and engaging museum shop, selecting exciting, engaging and accessible gifts and books for our diverse audience.

We're looking for a Retail Assistants (37.5 hours week, five days a week from Monday to Sunday) to work alongside our existing Licencing and Product Development Manager to deliver a world class museum shopping experience contributing to driving sales.

What will I be doing?

Working with small team of shop assistants and delivering sales targets, ensuring excellent customer service is at the forefront of all that we do whilst ensuring the shop is well presented and being receptive to our visitors' requirements.

As a Retail Assistant, you will:

  • Adhere to KPI targets, stock replenishment and visual merchandising standards

  • Upsell products.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

  • Ensure the shop is fully stocked at all times

  • Contribute to visual merchandising in the shop to creating stimulating displays

  • Maintain the stock system and integrity of the data

  • Undertaking accurate cash handling, including start of day checks, refunds and end of day cashing up.

Is this job for me?

Shop staff will be required to work flexibly Monday to Sunday on a rota basis agreed in advance, and should be able to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays, regular late night openings and most Thursday afternoons as part of the rota to meet operational demands as well as attending occasional out of hours meetings and training.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong communication and team working skills

  • Passion for museum shops and the key role they play in generating income.

  • The ability to work weekends and some late-night functions as rota'd

  • A strong commitment to access, diversity and inclusion including a rounded comprehension of the social model of disability and best practice in creating and maintaining a culture which is inclusive and diverse.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Dedication to providing the highest level of customer service.
