Quality Assurance Manager Metering

The salary for this role is £49,995 to £63,832

The role is based at our Wednesbury (WS10 7XD) office, with travel to our sites and external manufacturers sites in the UK and abroad when required.

We're looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to specialise in Metering assets. You will also support our vendor quality initiatives and manage a Quality Engineer apprentice.

  • Manage and Develop Talent: Oversee a Quality Engineer apprentice, guiding their academic growth to a degree level using the Chartered Quality Institute structure. You'll also develop a comprehensive work experience plan to train the apprentice and wider team in all aspects of quality management.

  • Vendor Quality Oversight: Lead the auditing of vendor quality processes, ensuring continual improvement across current products and the safe launch of new products. You'll manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure supplier samples meet production conditions and quality standards.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including E.ON's Product Assurance, Asset Strategy, and Procurement teams, to ensure cohesive and effective quality activities. You'll also manage the vendor escalation process and develop improvement plans with suppliers.

  • Incident and Asset Management: Handle failed asset investigations, manage incident reporting, and coordinate asset recalls from customers and the wider supply chain. Your role will include managing all related stakeholders and reporting to senior management.

  • Quality Assurance and Auditing: Lead internal and external audits, including maintaining ISO9001:2015 certification and conducting in-service testing audits with the Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS). You'll also support engineering change requests and evaluate risks associated with quality assurance.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive the development and implementation of quality tools and processes, ensuring the ongoing enhancement of E.ON's vendor quality management capabilities. You'll also lead quality improvement meetings with vendors and support the roll-out of the E.ON Business System.

This position requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of quality management, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

What we need from you

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant professional qualification (e.g Engineering / Engineering Business Management /Quality) and / or gained external accreditation in relevant quality discipline(s)

  • Experience in quality management at an advanced level, (e.g. 6 Sigma) with a comprehensive understanding of quality management processes in manufacturing.

  • Experience of managing internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to build and foster effective relationships.

  • Experience in performing and leading audits in manufacturing facilities at European and International sites.

  • Experience in leading multi departmental teams to deliver business improvement projects and activities.

  • Experience in leading and managing vendor quality improvement projects, with demonstrable improvements in vendor quality performance

  • Ability to engage with senior management stakeholders at vendors in a credible manner to achieve objectives

  • Experience of managing internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to build and foster effective relationships.

  • Ability to travel to vendor sites in central Europe, India, and China.

  • Full valid UK/EU Driving Licence

  • Valid Passport to travel to vendor sites in central Europe, India, and China.
