Role Overview

Our client is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Project Manager to join their fantastic culture. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, directing, application engineering, budgeting and procurement, and managing field installation, start-up, and close-out of assigned projects. This position is a key interface with the customer and is responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction, safety, and quality assurance on all assigned projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage many aspects of assigned projects from award through to completion, including overall site management of project(s) for successful, timely completion within budget. Prepare project installation plans, manage the plans, and prepare and implement job procedures.
  • Translate a variety of customer needs/requirements into detailed proposals and project implementation plans to meet customer requirements; review and approve estimated costs prior to bid; engage in project contract negotiation; provide technical assistance to the sales force as and when required; supervise project design engineering; supervise installation labour and subcontractors; prepare project schedules, subcontracts, change proposals, and project invoices; assist with project collections.
  • Effectively communicate project requirements to project team and broader organization as and when required, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records necessary for internal and external reports processing.
  • Acts as the customers' best service provider at all times, ensuring the company is their first choice for service.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop/implement strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Proactively communicate project schedules, project change proposals and related project activities regularly with customers and seek to improve customer satisfaction continuously.
  • Manage the procurement (including selection) of materials, supplies, services and control necessary for timely and cost practical project completion within budget.
  • Establish project milestones and analyse costs; exposure to financial systems to review actual vs estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports; identify reasons for low job site productivity and determine the impact on the project; adjust or correct project plan and/or project cost estimates as necessary to meet financial goals.
  • Manage the execution and review of all scope of work, terms and conditions in customer contracts, including cost control, delivery fulfilment, quality control standards, quality of service, and other customer requirements as they arise.

Experience Required

  • Project management experience in a technical environment (eg in the Building Automation, Fire Alarm, Electronic Security or AV system sectors).
  • Coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills; solid leadership orientation; actively seek ways to act as a role model, guide, develop and mentor others within the organization.
  • Team leadership, team building and facilitation skills.
  • Show initiative, engage in proactive behaviour, and look for opportunities.
  • Adaptable to respond effectively to changes in situation or information; ability to influence others and build consensus using strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to resolve problems and look for solutions; solid conflict resolution skills.
  • Financial analytical skills, including cost control.
  • Essential ability to facilitate a collaborative working environment for customers and team members.
  • Basic Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of IT networking principles.

Requirements

  • Education: educated in Engineering or Managerial Business
  • Minimum experience: 5 years of relevant engineering, field service or project management
  • Preferred experience (but not required):

- Previous project supervisory experience

- Certifications & licenses: Project Management Institute (PMI) certification; industry-specific certifications and/or licenses

- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
