Project Lead (Integrated Water Management)

£46,464 - £50,512

36.25 hours per week

2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Your role:

Would you like to be part of a nationally recognised and leading team. The GMCA in partnership with the Environment Agency and United Utilities, is spearheading the Integrated Water Management Plan (IWMP) .

This initiative is dedicated to:

• Developing and implementing a new way of working, that will enable systematic collaboration and integration across multiple partners and sectors.

• Accelerating the implementation of natural flood management interventions in key locations - to lower carbon emissions, increase our resilience to climate change and enhance nature, people's well-being and the quality of towns and cities.

• Delivering committed investment programmes whilst leveraging added value.

• Managing water wherever it falls to prevent rainwater from entering the combined sewage system, reducing surface water flood risk and improving water quality.

• Creating new jobs, develop skills and apprenticeship roles that benefit residents in Greater Manchester.

• Ensuring new developments are delivered in partnership and in accordance with committed standards and best practice.

We are looking for a project lead with experience of the planning, infrastructure and water sectors to support the team, the trilateral partnership and local authorities in developing and delivering projects to achieve the outcomes and priorities as outlined in the Annual Business Plan and devolution deal .

Secondments from the Environment Agency, water sector, local authorities and TfGM are welcome.

About you:

The successful candidate will be a 'systems thinking' and 'problem solving' person who thrives in a complex environment of programmes, projects, policy, regulation, and stakeholders and with a constant focus on delivering impact.

You will have experience and knowledge of the water sector and an understanding of the technical, financial and legal elements of projects and solutions. You will also have a relevant degree or equivalent and several years of demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills that include:

• Proven project lead management capability on complex projects using a range of water sector solutions. Ideally involving a range of stakeholders.

• Understanding of the water sector and current industry challenges - such as climate change, population growth, aging infrastructure, and regulatory pressures.

• Experience of managing projects through business case gateways: (i) Initiation (ii) Analysis (iii) Appraisal and (iv) Approval.

• Experience of working within teams and with senior management and stakeholders and developing effective partnerships.

• Understanding of local government, the water industry and Environment Agency and associated decision making is desirable.

You will be expected to:
