Preservation Engineer (Quality & Commissioning)

Required for a one year contract in Sweden, a Preservation Engineer to join a large construction project. This is a critical role within a large scale infrastructure project, to ensure all materials, components, and systems are maintained from procurement through to installation, commissioning, and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preservation Planning:
• Develop and implement preservation plans and procedures for project materials and equipment.
• Ensure preservation requirements are integrated into procurement, storage, and installation processes.
2. Material Inspection and Tracking:
• Inspections upon material and equipment delivery to verify compliance with preservation standards.
• Maintenance of records of material conditions, storage environments, and preservation activities.
3. Environmental and Storage Control:
• Monitor and control environmental conditions (eg, humidity, temperature, exposure) in storage and laydown areas.
• Collaborate with site teams to ensure proper storage, handling, and transport procedures.
4. Preservation Maintenance Activities:
• Implement maintenance activities for materials and equipment during the construction phase.
• Ensure rotating equipment, electrical components, and sensitive materials are adequately protected and maintained.
5. Coordination and Communication:
• Liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure preservation recommendations are followed.
• Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure preservation measures are continued until systems are fully operational.
6. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
• Ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and best practices in preservation.
• Conduct audits and inspections to verify the effectiveness of preservation measures.

Qualifications:

1. Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

1. 10 years' experience in preservation engineering or a similar role within large-scale industrial projects (eg, oil and gas, power generation, manufacturing plants).
2. Strong knowledge of industry standards (eg, API, ASTM, ASME).
3. Familiarity with material preservation techniques for various components, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
4. Proficient in using preservation management software and documentation systems.
5. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
6. Ability to analyse and mitigate risks associated with material deterioration.
7. Ability to develop preservation requirements when not fully defined
