Right now, we are now looking for a talentedChartered Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist to ensurethe effective management, development and delivery of allpsycho-social interventions within newly formed MHTR team basedwithin our substance misuse services in LLR.

This newly established Primary Mental Health TreatmentRequirement service offers an opportunity to people in the criminaljustice system to be offered psycho-social interventions as analternative to custodial sentences. It is one of a national networkof MHTRs which are psychology-led. Turning Point MHTR servicesemphasize a bespoke approach to each client, drawing on a number ofevidence-based interventions to plan treatment programmes for eachclient. For this reason we emphasize regular supervision of theteam to ensure delivery of high quality and bespoke interventionsand use of standardized outcome measures

Role Responsibility

You will offer clinical guidance, training and leadershipto a team of Senior Assistant and Assistant Psychologists whofacilitate psycho-social interventions with individuals on a MentalHealth Treatment Requirement. You will use your expertise tobuild on a range of innovative approaches developed within otherTurning Point MHTR services, working closely with their ClinicalLead under the supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.In addition to being responsible for the systematic governance ofthe Leicestershire MHTR service alongside operational colleagues,you will offer practical advice on evidence-based psychologicalinterventions to colleagues as well as local agencies andorganisations.

Inspiring, developing andcoordinating everyone on your team will of course, be a vital partof your role. Helping Senior Assistant, Assistant Psychologists andPeer Support Workers and teams to develop psychological formulationskills and a trauma-informed approach is a central part of thisrole. We will also ask you to have a small caseload of serviceusers with complex needs, providing specialist psychologicalassessments and therapies.

Beyond theoperational level, you will have a significant impact on thestrategic direction and development of the service as a whole. Thiswill include building strong professional links with otherstatutory and voluntary service providers and using your expertiseto develop meaningful support networks for our clients. You willalso explore ways to continuously improve our services andintegrate wider issues - housing, employment and finances, forexample - into the overall treatment process. You will be invitedto work with our national team of Clinical, Counselling andForensic Psychologists to develop psychological and psycho-socialapproaches used across services and to further develop your careerin a therapeutic specialism that fits with service needs.

The Ideal Candidate

Along with up todate registration through the Health and Social Professions Council(HCPC) as a Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist, youwill need a doctorate in your professional specialism and provenability to deliver psychological services. Your experience ofleading and supervising clinical staff will ideally be supported byexperience of working with substance misuse Service Users. Formaltraining in supervision, whilst not essential, would be desirable.Excellent communication skills, adaptability and commitment to theRecovery Agenda, will all contribute to you becoming a vital memberof our clinical leadership team.
