Post Doctoral Research Associate - Local Theatres
Part time - 0.6FTE Fixed Term Contract (20 months)
Salary: Grade 5, is £19,399 - £25,460 - per annum including London Weighting

(The full time equivalent salary for grade 5 is £37,667 - £41,359 per annum including London Weighting)

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (Central) invites applicants for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to support an AHRC funded project - 'Local Theatre: Participation, Inclusion, Imagination'.

You will be joining a vibrant research department and will work alongside a Co-Lead Investigator based at Central. Additionally, you will work as part of the wider research team alongside the Principal Investigator, based at Royal Holloway University of London and colleagues at the University of Sunderland and the University of York. 'Local Theatre' is an interdisciplinary, AHRC funded research project and is the first major study of local theatres. This interdisciplinary research takes place when localism has re-entered the political lexicon. This project is rooted in the idea that theatres are widely regarded as beacons of hope, equity, and civic pride, but sustained engagement with local people is largely hidden from view. This engagement can be found in youth theatres, participatory programmes, and amateur companies.

You will have a research background in one or more of the following areas:

Theatre and place making Inclusive theatre practice Applied and /or socially engaged practice-based research Participatory research methods and working with young people and/or community groups. We would like to hear from applicants who have a PhD Have experience of working creatively with young people and communities Have experience of leading and analysing research processes Have experience of working with young people and communities from underserved communities. The successful applicant would be required to undertake a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)
