Port Operative (seasonal)

Port Operatives required for seasonal roles March-November

Your new company
Working for a port based in Plymouth.
We are looking for several people for seasonal roles from mid-March to the beginning of November.
Rates of pay are £13.34 per hour during the week and Saturdays/ Sundays are time and a half £19.67 per hour and bank holidays are double time at £26.68 per hour.
Your hours will be based on a rota basis, and you will be required for a minimum of around 20 hours per week up to 30-35 per week depending on the needs of the business.
Hours of work are usually between 10am - 10:30pm and are usually split shifts of 10am-2pm/ 630pm - 22.30pm, for example. You do not need to do both shifts, but this is an example of how the day operates.

Your new role

Operate heavy plant and machinery to achieve the safe and efficient handling of cargo.

To undergo training to operate new and additional plant and equipment as required to meet customer and operational requirements. This will include the operation of quayside and mobile harbour cranes.

To engage in the safe movement of cargo in storage areas, warehouses and on vessels.

Aid in the operation of the weighbridge and record and compile other administrative information associated with cargo movement and cargo handling accessories as required.

To undertake cleaning tasks and general maintenance duties associated with the efficient operation of the port.

To perform all other tasks as required.

What you'll need to succeed
Commitment to the season and be available between mid-March until the beginning of November.
Happy to undertake a drugs and alcohol test and also a medical assessment to make sure you are fit for the job.
Anyone who is willing to learn/ had a previous manual job/ ex-forces would be ideal for these positions.
