Hybrid working - location: 2 Dean Trench Street, SW1P and from home.

We are seeking an interim HR Manager to join the Business Support Team to cover a period of maternity leave commencing early March. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing an HR function which provides high quality HR support to NIESR's staff team of around 50. This is a stand-alone role and will include providing a business partnering service to the SteerCo and the institute's line managers.

Key Responsibilities
General HR
- Provide high quality professional advice and support to managers and staff for all HR related matters (including, disciplinary, capability, restructure, redundancy and grievance procedures), with escalation to the CFO where appropriate.
- Management of leave, including maternity, paternity, shared parental etc, and flexible working requests.
- Ensure employee records are maintained and updated on timely basis.
- Ensure that timely and accurate information is provided to the Finance team so that they can run the payroll.
- Maintaining key documentation such as org charts, pay structure information, MI and dashboard reporting.
- Management of NIESR's HR system, Breathe HR
Resourcing
- Coordinating all recruitment activity from JD review to onboarding:
- Coordinate visa applications and maintaining the Institute's status as an approved sponsor, with support from the HR consultant if required.
Performance Management
- Ensure that a thorough induction is set up for each new starter including meetings with the recognised trade union.
- Support managers to administer probationary periods through diarising key dates, providing documentation, and providing guidance where required.
- Coordinate the annual appraisal process - sending reminders, providing documentation, and ensuring that completed appraisals are returned in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate and organise training request and bookings.
Employee engagement
- Administer the biennial staff survey.
- Lead on the EDI taskforce and drive to implement ideas
- Enrol new staff onto Perkbox - our employee benefits system
Training and development
- Ongoing review of NIESR's training provision.
- Using our training platform KNowbe4, roll out training where needed.
- Coaching and training line managers in people management skills/activities.
Skills & qualifications
- CIPD qualified, or equivalent
- Up-to-date knowledge of current issues and thinking in HR and sound understanding of the potential contribution of human resources strategy to the success of an organisation.
- Solid working knowledge of employment law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt these appropriately to the audience.
- High level of attention to detail.
