Job Description
Aspris Quay View School are recruiting for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our hardworking and friendly team located in the village of Bere Alston in the beautiful Devonshire countryside We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our therapy team. The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team, which may suit someone experienced in a special needs environment or newly qualified, who will be required to work closely with other Therapists and other professionals providing support to students; reporting to the Therapy Manager.

About our School:
At Quay View School we specialise in high quality residential and educational provisions for children between 7 and 18 who may have SEMH and /or Autism. The safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people who may have experienced challenges in their lives is always paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their full potential. Aspris Children's Services Lyndhurst currently have two educational settings, Quay View School and Tor View School. Due to the location of the School, own transport is required.
About the role:
This part-time post is suitable for practitioners looking to extend their clinical experience within the field of Autism, Learning Disabilities and associated difficulties and work within a specialist educational setting. The selected candidate will be required to work closely with the Speech and Language Therapist, school counsellor and other professionals providing support to students and reporting to the Therapy Manager. You will be required to have at least two years experience within this field or a related relevant setting as you will need to feel confident working as the only OT within the local therapy team. There are opportunities to network with OT's in our Somerset provisions and work closely with the OT based at Tor View School in Tavistock. Regular external formal and informal supervision will be offered. CPD opportunities will be provided for the successful candidate to develop skills and practice and to assist developing practice and information needs.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Carry out individual student plan and deliver therapy programmes for young people between ages of 7 and 19
Offer timetabled 1:1 and small group interventions
Attend reviews for students Offer training and advice to the education team
Support the education team and offer guidance when carrying out activities with students such as cooking, and basic life ski ls such as personal hygiene tasks
Complete comprehensive reports and formal documents as required for individual students
Collaborate with staff, students and parents to develop effective activity plans which meet their sensory needs and ensure individuals have relevant sensory resources
Develop sensory/independence sessions e.g. group/individualised sessions
Develop circuits/obstacle courses for gross motor ski ls etc Audit the school and home environments to ensure they meet optimal stimulation and minimal distraction levels
Support the development of outstanding autism practise throughout the service
You must have good written and spoken communication skills, good interpersonal skills and be able to work well within a staff team. All applicants must be fully-qualified Occupational Therapy Practitioners, members of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and any other relevant governing bodies.
