Job Description

Non-Executive Director, Graphite Living

Location: Newcastle

Remuneration: £6,750 per annum

Closing date: Monday 17 th March 2025 at 9am

We're seeking a passionate and experienced Non-Executive Director to join the board of our new for-profit registered provider.

At Karbon Group, we build, own and manage homes for people across the North. And then we go further, we want to build better lives for our customers, not just better homes. Everything we do is for their security, health and happiness under their own roofs, in their communities and out there in the wider world.

We're passionate about the people and communities across our regions and we're committed to helping meet the national housing shortage in our area. To help us to do so, we're establishing a new for-profit registered provider called Graphite Living, which will be a subsidiary of Karbon Group.

Under this model, we'll jointly own the new for-profit company with an investor partner which we'll be appointing in due course. It is important that our investor partner shares our focus on quality and customers and truly values the social housing sector.

The new organisation will work closely alongside Karbon, which will remain a not-for-profit charitable organisation.

There is now an opportunity to join our board and help shape and oversee this exciting new organisation, which will be guided by a strong social ethos. We're seeking someone with experience in either financial, banking or investment roles or experience of developing new homes, in either for-profit or charitable sectors. Experience as a company director or non-executive director is desirable.

As Non-Executive Director, you will play a key role in shaping the organisation, ensuring the effective governance and strategic direction. You will provide independent oversight, challenge and guidance, ensuring that the organisation balances commercial success with social impact - or as we say at Karbon, you'll 'balance a sound business head with a strong social heart'.

We welcome individuals who can offer fresh perspectives and a commitment to delivering high-quality services for customers, with a passion for making a positive impact. There is also a separate opportunity to join Graphite Living as the Board Chair.

We're committed to diversity and inclusion and encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience in social housing.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new and ambitious subsidiary, and the wider Karbon Group.
