Network Team Lead - 2 days at the office in Brussels, the rest can be remote working

As the Network Team Lead for End User Services, you will guide a team of highly skilled network engineers and subject matter experts in developing and maintaining essential network services that enable end-user connectivity solutions. This position requires a mix of technical proficiency, leadership capabilities, and strategic insight to drive the team toward operational excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network engineers and architects, cultivating a collaborative and high-performance work culture. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development sessions. Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes in partnership with HR. Establish clear team objectives, track progress, and align efforts with organizational goals.

  • Technical Oversight: Supervise the design, implementation, and upkeep of end-user network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN systems. Ensure network reliability, performance, and security by following best practices and industry standards. Stay informed on the latest networking technologies to promote ongoing improvement and innovation. Provide technical guidance and support in resolving complex network issues.

  • Strategic Planning: Manage multiple network projects, ensuring timely execution and adherence to quality standards. Facilitate project meetings, stand-ups, and retrospectives using agile methodologies to prioritize and streamline workflows. Report project status, risks, and key performance indicators to senior leadership.

  • Project Management: Oversee the planning and execution of projects within your scope, ensuring timely completion and quality assurance. Provide leadership with regular updates on project status, potential risks, and key performance metrics.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Serve as the main point of contact between the network team and other departments, ensuring smooth communication and alignment. Represent the network team in cross-functional meetings, advocating for network initiatives and resource requirements. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration both within the team and across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or managerial role within a technical team.
    • Strong experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Skills:

    • Proven leadership and team management skills, with a history of building and guiding high-performance teams.
    • In-depth technical knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, and best practices.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with network security and compliance requirements.
