Job Description

Position Overview:

Colchester United Football Club is seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our dynamic Media, Marketing and Communications team as a Multimedia and Marketing Executive. In this role, you will play a vital role in creating and delivering engaging multimedia content to enhance the club's brand presence and engage with our fanbase. You will take our First Team and Academy coverage to a new level, engaging the club s supporters with these vital aspects of the football club s future success.

You will also work closely with various departments to capture, edit, and distribute multimedia content across multiple platforms, including Col U TV, social media, website, match programmes and matchday screens. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the department on a matchday, ensuring broadcast and media requirements are met for visiting members of the press, both nation and local.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Multimedia Content Creation:
  • Capture high-quality photos, videos, audio and written content during training sessions, matches, events, and community activities to be published across various outlets.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to generate innovative multimedia content ideas that align with the club's brand and marketing objectives.
  • Edit and enhance multimedia content using industry-standard software to ensure professional and visually appealing output.
  • Develop creative and engaging graphics, animations, and visual elements to support various digital platforms and promotional campaigns.

Content Management:

  • Organize and maintain an extensive multimedia library, ensuring easy accessibility and efficient content retrieval.
  • Assist in the scheduling and distribution of multimedia content across different channels, including Col U TV, social media platforms, the club's website, and matchday screens, ensuring that all commercial activities are driven via these channels.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement content strategies that drive fan engagement and promote brand awareness.
  • Monitor and analyse content performance metrics to identify trends, gather insights, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Social Media:

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of social media campaigns, ensuring consistency in messaging and branding across all platforms ensuring the club s commercial messages are consistently well pitched.
  • Create and publish multimedia content for social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Engage with fans by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Stay up to date with social media trends, emerging platforms, and best practices to continuously optimize content strategies.

Matchday Support:

  • Assist in capturing and editing multimedia content during matchdays, including pre-match activities, live match updates, and post-match reactions.
  • Coordinate with the media team and photographers to ensure comprehensive coverage of all key moments during matches.
  • Support the live streaming and broadcasting of matches, ensuring smooth operation of multimedia equipment and troubleshooting technical issues when necessary.
  • Manage the Matchday Big Screen schedule and advertising content.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Multimedia, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field would be desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in multimedia content creation and editing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects), Final Cut Pro, or similar software.
  • Experience in photography and videography, with a keen eye for capturing engaging moments and telling compelling stories.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt content style and tone for different platforms and audiences.
  • Good understanding of football and familiarity with Colchester United Football Club.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate matchday and event coverage, including weekends and evenings.
