Middle Office Business Analyst

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Middle Office Business Analyst (BA) with a solid understanding of the trade life cycle, Middle Office operations, and strong stakeholder management skills. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of trade validation, risk management, and post-trade processing, with a focus on ensuring seamless operations across the front, middle, and Back Office. While the role may involve some policy writing, the primary focus is on operational execution, issue resolution, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Trade Lifecycle Management:

    • Collaborate with the Front Office to ensure accurate trade capture and booking.

    • Ensure trade details are enriched, validated, and properly reflected across the middle and Back Office systems.

    • Monitor the progress of trades through various life cycle stages, including confirmation, settlement, and post-trade processing.

    • Work with risk teams to monitor risk exposure, collateral management, and P&L consistency.

  2. Middle Office Operations:

    • Facilitate the smooth execution of Middle Office processes, ensuring timely and accurate trade confirmations, reconciliations, and settlement tracking.

    • Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve any trade breaks or discrepancies and ensure data consistency across systems.

    • Manage trade reconciliation processes, ensuring timely identification and resolution of any issues.

    • Provide regular reporting on trade status, risk exposure, and settlement activity to stakeholders.

  3. Stakeholder Management:

    • Act as a key liaison between Front Office, Back Office, risk, and other operational teams, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.

    • Engage with external counterparties and clients for trade confirmation, resolution of trade-related issues, and communication of trade life cycle status.

    • Support senior stakeholders with timely updates and reports on trade-related issues and initiatives.

  4. Audit and Compliance:

    • Assist in the preparation and support of internal and external audits related to trade processes, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and traceable.

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including transaction reporting, trade confirmations, and settlement procedures.

    • Work closely with compliance teams to ensure adherence to both internal policies and external regulatory frameworks (eg, MiFID II, EMIR).

    • Prepare and maintain audit trails, trade records, and documentation to support audit requests.

  5. Process Improvement & Policy Support:

    • Identify areas for process improvement within Middle Office workflows, providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency.

    • While not primarily focused on policy writing, assist with the implementation and communication of relevant policies within the Middle Office, ensuring compliance at the operational level.

    • Ensure that policies related to trade life cycle management, risk control, and settlement procedures are followed consistently.

Key Skills & Experience:
  • Trade Lifecycle Knowledge: Strong understanding of the end-to-end trade life cycle, from trade capture to post-settlement, including risk management and reconciliation processes.

  • Middle Office Expertise: Demonstrated experience in Middle Office functions such as trade validation, position keeping, and risk reporting.

  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Audit & Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with audit processes, internal controls, and regulatory requirements in relation to trade operations.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively within the Middle Office environment, managing trade breaks and discrepancies efficiently.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies or potential issues in trade data and processes.
