Job Description
Mechanical Gas Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer role in the Housing & Property Operations team within the public sector. The job responsibilities include:

  • Site surveys, quality inspections, specifications, and schedules of work.
  • Report writing and providing oversight to mechanical appliances, heating and hot water systems, their maintenance, PPM, and refurbishments for a number of key clients.
  • Carrying out surveys of mechanical installations and heating and hot water systems.
  • Evaluating risk assessments on the condition, lifecycle, and expiry of mechanical installations.
  • Assisting the role of Building Services Manager (compliance) and Project Manager (projects/programmes).
  • Undertaking any other duties to assist with the activities of the building services team.


  • The ideal candidate should have:
  • Experience in site surveys, quality inspections, specifications, and schedules of work.
  • Knowledge of mechanical appliances, heating and hot water systems, their maintenance, PPM, and refurbishments.
  • Experience of carrying out surveys of mechanical installations and heating and hot water systems.
  • Knowledge of evaluating risk assessments on the condition, lifecycle, and expiry of mechanical installations.
  • Experience of report writing and providing oversight to mechanical appliances, heating and hot water systems, their maintenance, PPM, and refurbishments for a number of key clients.
  • Knowledge of Building Services Manager (compliance) and Project Manager (projects/programmes) roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.


  • The salary for this role is up to £40,000 and offers a generous pension scheme.
