Job Description
PLUMBER
What you'll need to succeed
Evidence of attaining either Advanced Level City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in plumbing and/or domestic heating.
Substantial post-qualification experience.
Experience of repair and maintenance work on installations in occupied premises.
Understanding of Legionella L8 Approved Code of Practice
The ability to prioritise work and to work unsupervised and flexibly.
Computer literate.
Ability to undertake physical work, to include manual handling
Willingness to work in a flexible manner; being able to demonstrate a team player philosophy and contribute towards its success.
Ability to liaise with DLO customers in a professional and competent manner, ensuring that customers are kept informed in accordance with Estates Services customer service excellence ethos.
Understanding of Customer Service and willingness to work to Customer Service Excellence standards

Your new role
- The post holder will be a member of the DLO and will report to the Plumbing Team Supervisor.
- The plumbing team are responsible for reactive repairs and planned maintenance routines on mechanical service installations throughout the University estate.
- Plumbers are required to work on, cold-water services, heating and domestic hot water services, sanitary installations and rainwater goods.
- The plumbing team are based in the DLO offices in South Parks Road and are required to carry out work across the University Estate - generally in Central Oxford.
- The plumbing team receive their work through handheld PDA devices and are required to update information on the PDA as work is completed. Training will be provided if required.
