Lead Research Infrastructure Engineer (Linux) - Hybrid, Victoria, London

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Research Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. This is a hybrid role (three days per week in our Victoria, London office), offering the opportunity to work at the forefront of high-performance computing, networking, and large-scale storage systems.

About the Role

As a hands-on lead, you will play a key role in designing, optimising, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our research and trading teams. With a primary focus on Linux-based systems, you will be responsible for workload scheduling, large-scale system management, high-performance storage solutions, network performance tuning, and software development tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and collaborate with research and infrastructure engineering teams to design and optimise Linux-based platforms.
• Architect and implement workload scheduling, high-performance file systems, and large-scale system management.
• Optimise system performance for low-latency and high-throughput applications.
• Manage and enhance DevOps tooling (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins).
• Monitor and analyse infrastructure metrics using Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Drive containerisation and orchestration strategies with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies, conducting proofs of concept (PoCs) and presenting findings.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years' experience in Linux systems administration and platform engineering.
• Proven technical leadership in high-performance computing environments.
• Expertise in Linux Kernel tuning, hardware optimisation, network performance, and storage performance.
• Strong programming and Scripting skills in Python, Golang, or similar languages.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure monitoring, visualisation, and troubleshooting.
• Passion for automation, efficiency, and performance tuning at scale.
