Activities

As a Lead Backend Engineer at VESTIGAS, you will set the technical direction and drive the evolution of our platform. You'll blend hands-on development with strategic leadership, guiding a team of engineers to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions that push our mission forward.

You will:

• Collaborate closely with product managers and front-end engineers to architect, build, ship, and optimize new features from inception through deployment.
• Lead the core and scalability efforts of our solution, identifying and implementing improvements to support rapid growth.
• Plan, organize, and build large-scale, high-impact product features from the ground up, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into existing systems.
• Establish and refine engineering standards, tooling, and processes, serving as a mentor and role model for other back-end engineers.
• Drive technical excellence by conducting code reviews, sharing best practices, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture within the team.

Our tech stack includes:

• Python (FastAPI) for backend development
• Microservices architecture for feature separation
• Docker, Docker Swarm, Ansible, and GitLab CI/CD for containerization and deployment
• Azure & OpenAI AI integration
• Couchbase and PostgreSQL for database management

Requirements

• Enjoys all aspects of building a product from scratch. You love discussing solutions for customer challenges just as making them a reality.
• Takes over the responsibility for the created features and their testing and deployment .
• Has advanced technical expertise working with Python , Go or other object oriented programming languages (e.g. Java, C#, etc.) and has experience building scalable microservice architectures for rapid growth.
• Writes reusable and tested code that can directly be shipped to our customers.
• Speaks fluent English .

Team

You'll be joining a highly passionate and driven team, reporting directly to our CTO, Yannick, who has previously pushed initiatives at FlixBus and Celonis.

You'll be an integral part of our highly skilled backend team, working closely with Marc (previously with Foodora and FlixBus) and Alex (who brings experience from Siemens and Mercedes Benz). Both bring a wealth of knowledge and proven expertise in building scalable, high-performance systems.

In addition to the backend team, you'll collaborate regularly with our webapp, mobile app, and product teams to deliver seamless user experiences and innovative solutions. This cross-functional environment ensures you'll have opportunities to contribute at every stage of the development process.
