KS3 Humanities Teacher and Form Tutor

Start : January
Rate of pay : Competitive
Location : BS28
Contract : Full-time

  • Job Description:
  • Delivering engaging and creative humanities lessons to students in Key Stages 3.
  • Supporting, advising, guiding, and supervising students throughout the school day.
  • Supporting classes in the absence of the timetabled staff/teacher.
  • Carry out thorough assessment, including assessment for learning, recognise levels of attainment, set targets and assist colleagues in the setting of targets for improvement, monitor progress and use appropriate teaching strategies in the light of this
  • To have a primary focus on maintaining good order and ensuring students are on task so that learning can take place.
  • Secure a good standard of pupil behaviour in the classroom by establishing appropriate rules and high expectations of conduct; act to pre-empt and deal with inappropriate behaviour in all areas of the school in line with school policies
  • Monitor tutor group and support, with reference to the five elements of 'Every Child Matters' and maintain high standards of conduct and appearance in the tutor group
  • Teach PSHE in line with the syllabus


  • Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. ECT's welcome to apply.
  • Bachelor's degree in a Humanities related field.
  • Recent experience teaching Humanities at secondary school level.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate that is registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one.
  • Behaviour/classroom management.
  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of school staff.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff members.
  • Geography teaching experience essential
