About Us
At Intelligent Editing, we're passionate about the English language, and we design software that helps writers and editors produce their very best work. Our flagship product, PerfectIt, is the leading proofreading software for independent editors, proposal managers, medical writers, and publications teams. We recently launched Draftsmith, an AI app that helps language professionals to sharpen writing.
We're a growing, profitable company; and we've been working 100% remote since before it was cool!
About the Role
We're on the hunt for a Junior Account Manager to join our Sales team. The Junior Account Manager will have responsibility for day-to-day management of a book of business that includes some of our most important customer accounts.
The job starts with a three-month learning period. The Junior Account Manager will learn to be a proficient user of our products, develop a strong understanding of the key sectors that we work with, and learn our sales and account management systems and processes. After that, the Junior Account Manager will take on responsibility for a set of key accounts, seeking to retain and grow that portfolio.
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous sales experience and a passion for forming strong customer relationships. As the primary point of contact for our existing customers, you'll be an enthusiastic and proactive individual who is dedicated to ensuring we meet our customers' needs. A desire to learn about every aspect of how we work with customers is essential.
You'll work closely with customers from a variety of sectors, including medical, pharmaceutical, and government organisations, so a willingness to understand their individual needs and pain points is crucial.
The Junior Account Manager will also work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure that our customers are supported, so the ideal candidate must have an ability to develop strong working relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve success.
Responsibilities:
- Meeting customers within your portfolio and becoming familiar with their history at Intelligent Editing. You'll facilitate customer calls to learn more about their needs, provide product demos, and identify growth opportunities.
- Proactively checking in with customers under your management and responding to queries to resolve any issues that arise in a timely manner.
- Identifying accounts who can benefit from product training and arranging sessions with our Customer Success Managers.
- Researching the organisations under your management to identify potential growth opportunities.
- Arranging quarterly/semi-annual/annual check-ins with customers.
- Actively working to retain key accounts, and ensuring renewals are made promptly.
- Identifying accounts at risk of cancellation and collaborating with the team to mitigate that risk.
- Attending conferences and other industry events, in the UK and overseas.
- Taking detailed notes of all customer interactions in our CRM, so that all colleagues working with the account understand the relationship.
- Carefully listening to customer requests and collecting feedback. We pride ourselves on continuous product improvement so tracking customer feature requests plays a large part in what the product might look like in the future.
We're a small company and you need to be prepared to cover additional responsibilities, including basic admin tasks, when required.
Requirements
Essential:
- A strong belief in our company values of enthusiasm, empathy, listening, accepting, trust, and quality.
- A strong business acumen gained from at least two years' experience in previous sales and/or customer-facing roles.
- The ability to actively listen to customers and understand their needs and concerns, and effectively communicate this information to team members.
- Attention to detail, as well as strong organisation, time management, and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent vocational qualification. A keen interest in language, writing, and editing.
Nice to Have:
- Professional experience in a software company. Past sales experience in the medical and/or proposals sector.
- Experience and confidence attending conferences and presenting to large groups, as may be required.
- Knowledge of house styles and style manuals.
