Java Developer

Java Developer - J2EE Engineer - Kotlin - Azure - Ipswich - Outside IR35

Our client is looking to recruit the services of an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their development team on a contract basis (outside of IR35). The post holder will be required to build software using predominantly Java technologies. My client is based in the Ipswich area and the post holder will be required to be on-site at least 3 days per week, so will need to live within a commutable distance.

Working on a greenfield development project, you will be required to assist in the development of an application from scratch, configure existing systems and providing support. You should be a team player and be an excellent communicator. You will work with internal team members but also be required to take the initiative and design, develop and maintain software with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities will include:

• Participate in client-facing requirement gathering and analysis activities
• Collaborate with colleagues to produce software design and architecture
• Write clean, scalable code using a specific programming language in Java
• Test and deploy applications and systems
• Revise, update and debug existing code
• Serve as a client point-of-contact and provide technical support and expertise to no-technical users

Required skills:

• Proven experience as a Java software Developer, ideally as a lead developer or senior developer
• Experience in Kotlin, or will be willing to cross-train and code in Kotlin
• Experience with some of the following technologies in the technology stack would be beneficial: React, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Kubernetes and Azure cloud (and deploying software to the cloud)
• Familiarity with different architecture styles
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience of working within an Agile environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - the ability to work with clients directly and develop long-term relationships
