Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Oakfield House School, Salwick

Salary: £22,879.80 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:00pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our close-knit team at Oakfield House School located in Salwick.

Job purpose

Oakfield House School is a DfE registered primary school offering a purpose-built service specially designed to meet the educational and development needs of the pupils in our care. Our school is a beautiful Victorian property set in an amazing eight acres of Lancashire countryside, we provide a caring, structured and a homely environment for our pupils.

As an Options Autism school, we provided care and education to young people with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering innovative approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

Responsibilities

  • To support and assist teachers in offering mentoring support, training, and guidance to other members of the team in particular Learning Teaching Assistants (LSAs)
  • To lead and model positive behaviour management with initiative-taking and purposeful approaches.
  • To contribute to the preparation and planning of lessons including developing resources and opportunities for young peoples to learn in school and out-of-school contexts in accordance with lesson plans and in response to young people need
  • To prepare and deliver lessons, under the direction of the teacher, including covering for teacher absence.
  • To share the school's responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development, safeguarding, and well-being of all young people.
  • To ensure recording and reporting across the school is completed to a high standard.
  • To provide cover for Teachers when absent or as requested by the SLT or Line Manager.
  • Administer and assess routine tests and invigilating exams/tests.
  • Provide general clerical/administrative support e.g., administering course work, producing resources for agreed activities etc.
  • Use specialist curriculum/learning skills/training/experience.

Oakfield House School is a specialist Primary School for autistic pupils and those associated with Autism/Learning or Complex Communication and Behaviour needs. The school has a strong and committed leadership team. Our school is a country house built in the 1880's, set in eight acres of beautiful parkland.

We cater for 45 boys and girls aged between 4 - 12 years old.

The Site is situated in Salwick near Preston and are within commutable distance from Preston, Blackpool, Chorley, Leyland and surrounding areas.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
