Job Description

Head of Secretariat

Salary: Up 79,494 pro /rata plus excellent benefits

Contract: 18 - month Fixed term

Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week. Within this role you are required to work in person a minimum of two days per week. in line with our hybrid working framework. However, we are also open to discuss condensed working, Part-time or Job shares for this role.

About the role

Within this role the post holder will work closely with the co-chairs and commissioners and is responsible for leading the secretariat's work, commissioning, and managing the policy options programme, overseeing the economic analysis, and modelling, representing the commission to senior internal and external stakeholders, delivering a series of outputs and stakeholder engagement programme and delivery of final recommendations aimed at a policy and NHS audience in Autumn 2026.

The successful candidate will have a strong analytical and research skills and expertise in health economics and policy. Demonstrating confidence in deploying these skills with very senior stakeholders and in public speaking forums.

The Head of Secretariat will be accountable to the co-chair of the NHS productivity commission and will lead three direct reports.

It is therefore essential that the post holder is able to work effectively both independently and within a team, ensuring good lines of communication across multiple complex strands of work.
