About the charity
From its world-class campus, Seashell aims to provide exceptional education and care for children and young adults with the most complex and profound needs, driven by an amazing workforce.
Seashell is midway through the largest fundraising appeal in its 200-year history, and the largest by any similar charity in the UK. It will see the campus become a national centre of excellence for the education and residential care of children and young adults with the most complex needs. Seashell is also ambitious about growing revenue income and has significantly invested in fundraising to deliver.
Their brand-new state of the art school building is now open and a college capital development on the way in 2026.
About the role
Overall responsibility for leadership, management and performance of fundraising and commercial income sits with the Head of Fundraising, working alongside a Director who firmly believes in empowering her team to succeed. You'll oversee the Transforming Lives Capital Appeal, unrestricted and restricted revenue fundraising and commercial hire income.
You'll have a real opportunity to feed into a five-year fundraising and communications strategy, which will include reviewing Seashell's revenue and capital needs and the resource required to deliver effectively.
You'll have leadership and delivery responsibility for a growing team of x12 fundraisers. Revenue income currently sits at £1.6 million with ambition to grow. Plus, additional income from current and future capital appeals sits within your remit (target of £10 million with roughly 25% still to go).
About you
We're looking for a confident and capable fundraising leader, with proficiency and knowledge across a broad range of income streams, and personal experience managing high-value relationships.
You're comfortable with ambition and thrive on meeting goals.
In previous roles, you'll have played an instrumental role in growth, demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities (ideally, previously managing fundraised income circa £2 million+ to apply).
You foster a balanced culture of accountability, where people feel safe to try new things, are encouraged to play to their strengths and empowered to find their flow.
It's absolutely essential that you're values-led, creating an environment where people reach their full potential.
This is a genuinely unique opportunity to join one of the most exciting and ambitious fundraising teams outside London. The potential is huge - in terms of both income and professional development.
If your next adventure is calling, please get in touch with a copy of your profile or CV to Amelia Lee at Charity People.
Deadline: 9am on Friday 21st February
Interview dates will be confirmed soon
