About the Role:

As the 2iC (Second in Command) of English, you will work alongside the Subject Coordinator to drive excellence in teaching and learning. Your key responsibilities will include leading curriculum development, ensuring high standards across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5, and driving student progress.

What We're Looking For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
• At least 1 year of teaching experience with a proven track record of raising achievement
• Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching strategies
• High level of ICT proficiency and the ability to integrate new technologies into teaching
• Proven success in Assessment for Learning and Learning to Learn strategies
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and the use of coaching to foster team growth

Key Responsibilities:

• Deputise for the Subject Coordinator and contribute to the creation of a high-quality English curriculum
• Lead the implementation of innovative teaching strategies to raise standards
• Ensure student progress and achievement across all key stages (KS3, KS4, KS5)
• Support and develop the teaching team, providing guidance, training, and feedback
• Lead literacy development within the English department and across the academy
• Drive strategic planning, including subject improvement plans and the development of resources and teaching strategies
