Job Description

The School

Francis Holland Sloane Square is a highly sought-after independent selective school for around 590 senior pupils aged 11 to 18 (HMC and GSA). The School is located on a spacious site in a beautiful residential part of Belgravia, close to the Saatchi Gallery and many cultural institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science and Natural History Museums, the Royal Academy and the Tate Galleries. The proximity to Imperial College offers us unparalleled access to lectures and support.

The Appointment

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and well-qualified teacher to lead the Physical Education department. The Head of Academic PE will be a high-calibre individual with the experience, personal qualities, and dedication to lead the implementation and management of the GCSE PE curriculum across Years 10 and 11. In addition, the successful applicant, in collaboration with the Director of Sport and the PE Department, will support the delivery of the KS3, 4 and 5 PE curriculum to ensure the highest of standards across the board. The successful candidate should be an experienced teacher of both GCSE and A Level PE.

Furthermore, the successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the sporting co-curricular programme, which includes fixtures and training before and after school, at lunchtime, and, at times, at weekends. In addition, the Head of Academic PE will also be responsible for deputising for the Director of Sport as and when required, taking on any other responsibilities that may arise and that are reasonable within the role. The Head of Academic PE will report to the Director of Sport but will be expected to attend Heads of Department meetings, in line with their position as a middle leader in the school.
